Read our club history
Eildon Golf Club was established after many meetings during 1958 – 59 at the home of Ben and Margaret Hall.
A public meeting was then held at the Eildon Theatre on the 7th of March 1960 where 10 men paid 7 guineas each ($14.70) to form the Eildon Golf Club. Ben Hall was elected Foundation President, Reg May Secretary and Denziel Gribble Treasurer. A number of sites were looked at and finally the current location was settled on. Work then started on a 9 hole course with sand scrapes greens, with little money but with Ben pushing hard the volunteers worked tirelessly cleaning up stones sticks and burning off to create the basses for what we have today. Each fairway was allotted to certain organisations like S.E.C, S.R.W.S.C, The Boat Club, A.C.I etc. for them to mow and maintain.
The decision to plant grass greens was made in 1973 and the club had a tremendous amount of support and help from the local establishment especially the S.E.S and the S.R.W.S.C. in the formation of the grass greens. To get the greens up and running a lot of manpower as well as hard work was required and with the support of the local community has given us the great club we have today
